Federal Tax Form
For Tax Year 2018, you will no longer use Form 1040A or Form 1040EZ, but instead will use the redesigned Form 1040. Many people will only need to file Form 1040 and no schedules.
You can click the form you want and print off a copy. You can also utilize library computers to print the forms you need.
The IRS is also sending out a limited number of instruction booklets this year. Booklets can also be found online and printed off if necessary. Links to the booklets and other commonly used forms can be found below:
To order forms from the IRS, call 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676) or order online.
Illinois State Tax Forms
Visit the Illinois Department of Revenue's website for a list of forms you can download and print.
The library is happy to once again co-sponsor the AARP Tax-Aide Program. This volunteer-based program has helped millions of people file their taxes...for free!
The phone number to schedule tax preparation appointments is 217-528-4035, extension 151. Calls will be accepted beginning January 22 at this phone number only. Individuals should allow four business days to return calls before contacting the AARP volunteers. The library does not schedule the appointments, so please use the number listed above.
Appointments run February 2 through April 13.
- Wednesdays: 9am - 12:45pm
- Saturdays: 9am - 12:45pm
Free tax return preparation services are offered for individuals and families who qualify. AARP volunteers will also focus on identifying those taxpayers who are eligible for valuable tax credits, such as Affordable Care Act, Earned Income Tax, Child Tax, and Education Credits. For more information on these credits and others, please visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
